3D Printing of Face Shield to Prevent and Reduce the Spread of Covid-19
In the context of the “ODYSSEΑS” project [MIS 5002462], aiming to contribute substantially against the health crisis of Covid-19 pandemic, the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) and the International Hellenic University (Departments of Production & Management Engineering and Management Science & Technology) in collaboration with "ANiMA - The 3D Printer Experts", "Thes3D", "Quick3Dparts" and "Retouch-Health Solutions" companies, delivered, today at 08/04/2020, to the University General Hospital AHEPA and to the General Hospital G. Papanikolaou of Thessaloniki, 200 protective face-shields to protect the healthcare workers from Corona virus transmission. This initiative to support the healthcare system is accomplished by utilizing the existing know-how and the available infrastructures of the aforementioned consortium, by incorporating the benefits of 3D printing technology. This specific technology enables the direct manufacturing of medical equipment, such as protective face shields, in order to respond to the demanding needs that has arisen from the COVID-19 pandemic.
